We hope everyone had a pleasant and memorable holiday! Now it is time to shed those pounds from all the good food and drinks. Our practice schedule remains the same as last term.

Additionally we will welcome any new members to our club starting next week. Please show up to practice in comfortable gym wear and a positive attitude!

Also, the Intercollegiate Taikai is being held this month, please defer to our club email regarding more information. If you are not receiving club email please email us stating such.

  • Tuesday practices at SRC will be moved to I-house due to exams until the new term begins. Tues/Thrus at I-house starting at 7:30pm for both seniors and beginners. Also, for seniors, please bring your bokken to practice kata.
  • The BCKF is holding a godo-keiko on Friday, Dec. 7 at Steveston Martial Arts Center and begins at 7:30pm. Ikkyu and above are welcome to attend. Those who are not but are interested, please contact Harding sensei to confirm. Directions are here.
  • The 2007 BCKF Senior Mudansha Tournament will be on Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Simon Fraser University (Burnaby Campus) Athletics Facility, West Gym. Registration will begin at 10:30am, and competition is to start promptly at 11:00am. If you haven't yet, please contact our club if you want to partake by Thrusday, Dec. 6.
  • SFU will be hosting a Christmas Potluck Party at Zousoukan in Surrey on Saturday, Dec. 22.

The UBC Kendo Club will like to welcome new and returning members for another year of kendo! First practice will be Tuesday, Sept. 25 at the SRC from 7 to 9pm (beginners and seniors). Thrusday practices will be at International House 7 to 8pm for beginners and 8 to 10pm for seniors. Please arrive early to practice so we can start on time.

Denis Tran, our treasurer, will be collecting fees before and after practice this week so please pay.

Also, if you are not receiving any club emails please send us an email with your name and email address so we can add you to the contact list.

Good news is we're having a joint practice with SFU and Vancouver Kendo Club this Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 from 7:30 - 9:30pm @ the SFU East Gym. Please send an email to the club if you need a ride and we'll figure something out.

As for our upcoming practice schedule: Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, Tuesdays and Thursdays at I-House from 7:30-10:30pm. After clubs week (Sept. 25 onwards) we will begin practicing on Tuesdays at SRC from 7-9pm and Thursdays at I-House from 7-8pm for beginners and then 8-10pm for seniors.
